Train Wreck Trail
A short, easy forest walk in Cheakamus Crossing crossing a suspension bridge over the river to seven graffiti-covered boxcars from a 1950s derailment. It's quirky, photogenic and family-friendly — Whistler's most unusual short hike.
Cheakamus Lake Trail
An easy, flat seven-kilometer round-trip into Garibaldi Park ending at a glacial turquoise lake ringed by peaks. One of the first trails to clear of snow each spring and one of the great low-effort, big-payoff hikes in the area.
Things to do
Audain Art Museum
The Patkau-designed art museum in the Village holding the largest permanent display of Emily Carr paintings anywhere, plus a serious historical and contemporary First Nations collection. The architecture alone is worth the ticket.
Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre
A joint Squamish and Lil'wat Nations longhouse-Istken building in the Upper Village with hourly tours led by Indigenous ambassadors, a documentary film and craft demonstrations. It's the cultural anchor of the resort.
Landmarks & sights
PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola
The world-record gondola span connecting Whistler and Blackcomb peaks in eleven minutes over an unbroken valley of forest and glacier. The glass-bottom cabin is the rare engineering feat that's also a genuine attraction.
Whistler Olympic Plaza
The pedestrian square at the north end of the Village built for the 2010 Games, with the inukshuk, the Olympic rings and a year-round program of free concerts and skating. It's the natural meeting point for the Village.
