Freedom Park Nature Trail
A 1.3-mile forested loop inside Freedom Park in north Valdosta, passing through mature longleaf pine and hardwood stands with good birdwatching and wildflower sightings along the way. The trail is easy and well-marked, with the paved park loop adding more distance for those who want it.
Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area
A 8,000-acre wetland complex managed jointly by the state and U.S. Air Force, encompassing cypress-gum swamp and upland pine forest. The main visitor feature is a boardwalk trail through the wetlands leading to a 54-foot observation tower with sweeping views over the swamp canopy and the Grand Bay depression.

Wild Adventures Theme Park
A 170-acre regional theme park south of Valdosta that combines roller coasters and thrill rides with a zoo of exotic animals and the Splash Island Waterpark, which draws significant regional crowds in summer. It is the largest entertainment destination in South Georgia and an honest regional park, not a pretender to Disney.
Georgia Beer Co.
South Georgia's first craft brewery, housed in the century-old former Valdosta Water Works building on South Briggs Street downtown. The taproom pours seasonal ales, stouts, and IPAs brewed with local ingredients including pecans, peaches, and blueberries, and the beer garden is the city's most pleasant outdoor-drinking space.
Landmarks & sights
Historic Lowndes County Courthouse
The 1905 Neoclassical courthouse anchors downtown Valdosta's courthouse square and remains an active civic landmark. Its domed cupola and colonnaded facade are the visual center of the original town grid, and the small plaza around it is where the city marks its public moments.
The Crescent
A 23-room Neoclassical mansion built in 1898 for U.S. Senator William West, named for the curved portico of 13 columns, each representing one of the original colonies. Now home to the Valdosta Garden Club, it is one of the best-preserved antebellum-scale homes in South Georgia and open for tours.
