A standout independent coffee shop inside the Spokengear Cyclery building on the north end of town, making espresso drinks and smoothies with real craft alongside breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Cedar uses Castle Danger beers in a few seasonal drinks and sources locally where it can.

Fifth Falls and Superior Hiking Trail Loop
The best single trail in Gooseberry Falls State Park, a 2.9-mile loop that passes the accessible lower and upper falls then climbs along the Superior Hiking Trail to remote Fifth Falls, the smallest and least visited waterfall in the park. The river gorge section is genuinely wild for a trail this short. It earns its 4.7-star rating from thousands of hikers.
Day Hill Loop
A 3.5-mile moderate loop in Split Rock Lighthouse State Park starting from Pebble Beach, climbing through boreal forest to the Day Hill overlook, and returning along the Lake Superior shoreline. The views from Day Hill stretch across Conundrum Point and open water, and the cobble beach sections are among the quietest on the North Shore. It is the strongest introduction to the park for hikers who are not there for the lighthouse.

Castle Danger Brewery
Minnesota's fourth-largest brewery by volume started in a tiny garage in Castle Danger and now operates a 30-barrel production facility and year-round taproom in downtown Two Harbors, home of the state's top-selling Cream Ale. The taproom has 22 rotating taps, a patio facing the street, and frequent food trucks. It is the social hub of Two Harbors.
Gitchi-Gami State Trail
A paved, non-motorized trail being built in segments along the full 86-mile length of the North Shore from Two Harbors to Grand Marais, with over 36 miles currently open. The completed segments include a stunning 17.6-mile run between Gooseberry Falls and Silver Bay that traces the cliff edge above Lake Superior. Cyclists, walkers, runners, and wheelchair users all use it; the lake is visible for most of the open sections.

Split Rock Lighthouse
Perched on a 130-foot cliff above Lake Superior, this 1910 lighthouse stood as a beacon for Great Lakes ore freighters until 1969 and is now one of Minnesota's most photographed landmarks. The Minnesota Historical Society has restored the lighthouse tower, fog signal building, and three keepers' houses to their late-1920s appearance, and a film at the visitor center sets the scene beautifully. On November 10 each year the light is relit to honor the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Two Harbors Light Station
The oldest continuously operating lighthouse in Minnesota, first lit in 1892, sits on a rocky point guarding the entrance to Agate Bay with its original brick keeper's house and the fourth-order Fresnel lens still on display. The Lake County Historical Society runs self-guided tours through the tower, fog signal building, and assistant keeper's quarters, and rents the converted keeper's quarters as a B&B. It is a five-minute walk from downtown along the breakwater.
