It's the easiest walk in Starkville that doesn't feel like an urban sidewalk: turtles sun on the logs, egrets wade the shallows, and the whole loop takes about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace.
Lynn Lane Multi-Use Path
A 1.7-mile paved greenway that starts at McKee Park and connects westside neighborhoods all the way to the MSU campus — flat, ten feet wide, and the most practical urban trail for a casual jog or bike commute in the city. It runs parallel to Lynn Lane for most of its length before connecting to the Locksley Way path into campus.

Davis Wade Stadium
One of the oldest on-campus football stadiums in the country, and one of the loudest — the MSU student section's cowbell tradition is both official (the SEC has a bell rule specific to MSU) and genuinely deafening. Even if you're not a football fan, a home game here during the fall season is a cultural experience specific to the Deep South that you can't replicate.
State Theatre
A 1937 movie house on East Main that was resurrected as a live music venue — the original bones are intact (high ceilings, the vintage marquee out front) but the interior now has bars on multiple levels, an outdoor balcony, and a proper stage setup for touring bands and local acts. This is where Starkville's music scene lives; weekend shows range from country to indie rock to comedy.

The Cotton District
A 20-block neighborhood that one former shop teacher named Dan Camp rebuilt largely by hand starting in the late 1960s — salvaging a block of derelict cotton-mill worker housing into a walkable mix of Greek Revival cottages, fountain courtyards, and brick storefronts. Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library
Tucked into the fourth floor of MSU's Mitchell Memorial Library, this is one of only a handful of presidential libraries on a college campus — and it holds one of the largest Grant and Civil War archives in the country, including letters, never-before-seen artifacts, and the Frank and Virginia Williams Lincoln collection.
