The definitive Princeton hike — an AllTrails 4.5-star loop through forest, marshland, and the meadow where Washington's troops fought in January 1777. The Trolley Track, Founder's Walk, and River's Edge trails create a varied route that combines genuine history with natural terrain. About 3 miles total.
Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve
The most accessible nature trail actually within Princeton — easy paths through woods with small lakes, bird life, and the kind of quiet that's hard to find a mile from Nassau Street. Good for any fitness level and short enough to fit into a morning without disrupting the day. A genuine neighborhood nature escape.

A Tony Award-winning nationally acclaimed theater near the Princeton campus with 200+ annual performances across music, dance, and theater. Developmental works here frequently move on to Broadway. The programming is genuinely adventurous — this is not a regional theater playing it safe.
Princeton University Art Museum
Free to the public and housing more than 117,000 works across all periods and geographies, this is the best free cultural institution in Princeton and better than most ticketed museums in the region. The new 146,000-square-foot building that opened in October 2025 is itself worth seeing, and the permanent collection ranges from ancient Mediterranean to contemporary American with unusual depth at every point.

One of America's great university campuses, with Gothic architecture, Nassau Hall (where the Continental Congress met in 1783), a chapel that seats 2,000 with magnificent American stained glass, and grounds that are genuinely beautiful to walk through. Free Orange Key tours run seven days a week from the main visitor center.

Free admission to more than 117,000 works spanning ancient to contemporary, from around the world and across every medium. The museum opened a stunning new 146,000-square-foot building in October 2025 with 32 galleries woven into the campus landscape — named to TIME's list of the World's Greatest Places of 2026. Far better than most university museums at this scale.
