Alabama Point East Beach Walk
A rewarding coastal walk along the stretch of Gulf State Park beach at the eastern tip of Orange Beach, where the Gulf meets Perdido Pass and the beach narrows toward the jetty rocks. The combination of open Gulf beach, tidal-current channel, and the pass itself makes for scenery that shifts dramatically from one end of the walk to the other. A 10,000-square-foot community arts center on Canal Road overlooking Wolf Bay, with a gallery showcasing Gulf Coast fine art, a working ceramics studio, and Alabama's only public daily access hot glass studio. Watching the glassblowers work the molten glass is legitimately captivating even for people who have no interest in buying anything, and the Make Your Own sessions let visitors try their hand under instruction. The setting on Wolf Bay adds a natural backdrop the gallery rooms alone would not have.
Cetacean Cruises
Orange Beach's oldest and most established dolphin and sailing cruise operation, running two-hour eco-tours through the back bays of the Intracoastal system from their slip at The Wharf Marina. Between 50 and 70 resident bottlenose dolphins live in these inlets, and the flat, protected water gives the boat a stable platform for watching the animals feed and interact at close range. Alabama Point East
The easternmost public beach in Orange Beach, where the Intracoastal Waterway meets the Gulf through the narrow Perdido Pass inlet. The boat traffic through the cut and the fishing along the jetty rocks give it a livelier edge than the resort stretches to the west.
Orange Beach Waterfront Park
A city-owned park on the north shore of Wolf Bay with a 400-foot fishing pier, seven covered picnic shelters, and paved walking paths winding along the water. Dolphins frequently feed in the shallows near the pier at dusk, and great blue herons post up on the railings close enough to photograph. It sits right behind City Hall and is a peaceful counterweight to the busier beach-facing parks.
