Giovanni's Shrimp Truck
The truck that launched a thousand imitators, Giovanni's has been doing three things — garlic scampi, spicy shrimp, and lemon butter — from a graffiti-covered white truck since 1993. The shrimp come shell-on in a shallow pool of the appropriate sauce with two scoops of rice; eating it standing at a picnic table with napkins everywhere is part of the deal.
Romy's Kahuku Prawns and Shrimp
Unlike most shrimp trucks that source from Mainland suppliers, Romy's raises its own prawns in the ponds right next to where you're eating, which shows in the size and sweetness of what ends up on your plate. The garlic butter preparation leans richer and more buttery than Giovanni's, and the prawns are visibly larger.

Ehukai Pillbox Hike
A short but steep 0.7-mile climb above the Banzai Pipeline neighborhood that ends at two WWII-era concrete bunkers with panoramic views of the surf breaks below. You can literally watch Pipeline barrel from the ridgeline — a perspective almost no one gets.
Ka'ena Point Trail (North Shore Approach)
The flat, exposed 2.5-mile coastal walk to Oahu's westernmost tip rewards hikers with one of the island's most dramatic wildlife encounters: a predator-proof sanctuary where nesting Laysan albatross and Hawaiian monk seals coexist on a windswept lava shelf. It's genuinely wild in a way most of Oahu is not.

CLIMB Works Keana Farms
Eight dual-line ziplines on a working farm above Kahuku, with runs stretching nearly half a mile and views that take in the entire North Shore coastline from altitude. The guides share the farm's agricultural history, guests sample fresh produce at platforms along the route, and the three-hour tour includes ATV access to the ridgeline.
Polynesian Cultural Center
A full-day immersion into the cultures of Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti, and Aotearoa spread across 42 acres on the North Shore. Run by Brigham Young University Hawaii, the center employs Polynesian students as performers and guides — the result is genuine cultural transmission rather than staged entertainment.

Waimea Bay Beach
The crown jewel of the North Shore, Waimea Bay swings between two entirely different worlds depending on the season. Winter brings 30-foot waves that draw the world's best big-wave surfers and thousands of spectators; summer turns the bay glassy and calm, perfect for cliff-jumping off the famous boulder on the left side and floating out to the buoys.
Waimea Valley
A lush cultural sanctuary tucked behind Waimea Bay, this valley packs 1,875 acres of botanical gardens, rare native plants, and a swimmable 45-foot waterfall into an easy paved walk. It's run by a nonprofit devoted to Native Hawaiian culture, and you'll find cultural practitioners demonstrating traditional crafts along the way.
