Point Cabrillo Light Station
A working 1909 lighthouse on a grassy headland between the village and Fort Bragg, reached by a half-mile downhill walk past the keepers' cottages. The light room still holds its original third-order Fresnel lens, and the point juts far enough out that gray whales pass close in winter and early spring.
Mendocino Headlands State Park
The grassy bluffs that wrap the village on three sides, laced with flat dirt paths that run right to the cliff edge above sea arches and blowholes. It is the reason the town feels like an island; you can walk out of a coffee shop and be on the headland in five minutes.
