Minneopa State Park Loop
The five-mile signature loop through Minneopa State Park combines three very different landscapes in a single walk: the riparian woods above the falls, the open prairie of the bison enclosure (viewed from the perimeter trail), and the grassy upland around the 1864 Seppman windmill. Generally easy terrain, it is one of the most distinctive short hikes in the Minnesota River Valley.
Minneopa Falls Trail
A half-mile out-and-back walk to a two-tiered waterfall on Minneopa Creek, starting from the main park lot and descending past a historic stone footbridge between the upper and lower falls. The lower drop is a dramatic 40-foot plunge into a mossy ravine. The trail is easy and stroller-friendly on the upper portion; the rocky viewpoints near the base require sure footing.

Vetter Stone Amphitheater
A 4,000-capacity outdoor concert venue carved into a limestone hillside along the Minnesota River, with tiered stone slab seating, a grass lawn, and exceptional natural acoustics. Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota
A 12,000-square-foot children's museum in historic downtown Mankato with six indoor exhibits and an outdoor space, designed around open-ended play and scientific curiosity. The outdoor level features suspended forts inside a 30-foot tree structure, a two-story level-making installation, and a 1917 sod buster replica for kids to climb. Best for children roughly two through nine.

Minneopa State Park
A two-for-one state park three miles west of Mankato where the Minnesota River valley splits into two distinct experiences: a short walk to a double-drop waterfall on Minneopa Creek and a slow drive through a 325-acre bison prairie stocked with a full herd of Great Plains bison. The 1864 Seppman windmill, a National Register stone tower built by a German immigrant stonemason, anchors the upland loop with views over the herd.
R. D. Hubbard House
A sixteen-room French Second Empire mansion built in stages from 1871 to 1905, operated as a seasonal house museum by the Blue Earth County Historical Society. The building was Mankato's first private residence with indoor plumbing, electricity, and a telephone, and the copper-domed carriage house out back is nearly as striking as the main house.
