The Hatchery

Ludlow Mountain via Healdville Trail
A 5.9-mile out-and-back to the summit of Okemo Mountain via the historic Healdville Trail, climbing through dense Vermont hardwood forest before emerging onto the ski mountain's upper terrain with a fire tower at the top offering 360-degree views of the Green Mountains and beyond. It is the most rewarding hike in the immediate area and the fire tower makes the summit feel earned.
Buttermilk Falls Trail
A short, accessible half-mile trail in Okemo State Forest that passes both upper and lower Buttermilk Falls, each with a swimming hole at the base cold enough to be memorable and photogenic enough to hold a crowd on warm weekends. The trail is easy enough for young children but has enough spray and scramble at the base of the falls to feel like a proper adventure.

The four-season activity complex at Okemo's Jackson Gore base encompasses the Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster — 3,100 feet of banking curves at up to 25mph through alpine terrain — plus a zip line, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, and a challenge course. It is the right answer for families with children who need something exciting between ski days or during a summer mountain visit.
Okemo Ice House
A covered indoor-outdoor ice skating pavilion at the Jackson Gore base open throughout the winter season, with skate rentals available on site and the unusual appeal of skating in a mountain resort setting surrounded by snow. Evening sessions with music and lights are the most atmospheric; the rink fills with a mix of competitive skaters and complete beginners.
