Sugar Loaf Mountain Nature Trail
A 2.6-mile loop ascending an island mountain that rises 500 feet above Greers Ferry Lake, accessible only by boat from the Sugar Loaf Recreation Area or the Van Buren Recreation Area on the north shore. The summit views down the arms of the lake are among the best in the Ozarks, and the combination of the boat ride and the climb makes it an event rather than just a hike. Dogs are welcome on leash.
Collins Creek Trail
A 1.2-mile out-and-back trail on Hatchery Road that begins near the fish hatchery and follows Collins Creek to a cascading waterfall that flows reliably even during drought. The path is shaded, relatively flat, and well-maintained enough to be genuinely family-friendly, including manageable rock-hop sections near the falls. It is one of the most visited short trails in north-central Arkansas for good reason.

Gem Movie Theatre
A pre-war Art Deco cinema on West Main Street that a community group rescued from disrepair, restored to its original exterior look, and rebuilt inside as a working first-run movie house with 3D capability. The lobby rotates art gallery exhibits featuring local and regional work alongside the popcorn counter. It is the social and cultural anchor of downtown Heber Springs and has been for generations of locals.
Rouse Fly Fishing
An Orvis-endorsed fly fishing outfitter on the Little Red River, multiple-time winner of Orvis Guide of the Year and Guide Service of the Year awards, running guided half and full-day drift trips for rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout in the cold tailwater below Greers Ferry Dam. Novices regularly report landing 15 to 25 fish in a day under their guidance, which gives you a sense of both the river and the skill of the guides. Spring Park
A ten-acre downtown park built around the seven natural mineral springs that gave Heber Springs its name and reputation as a nineteenth-century health resort. The labeled springhouses still flow with waters ranging from magnesia to red sulfur, and visitors have been cupping handfuls from them for generations. It is the cultural and geographic heart of the town, anchoring the Farmers Market and frequent outdoor events.
Cleburne County Courthouse
An early-twentieth-century Jeffersonian Revival courthouse on the National Register of Historic Places, its four-column Classical portico and octagonal cupola anchoring the center of downtown. Inside, patterned ceramic floor tiles, marble wainscoting, and stamped metal ceilings survive intact. It is a two-minute stop from Spring Park and earns its spot as the architectural centerpiece of the square.
