Evanston Lakefront Trail
A continuous lakefront path running the full length of Evanston's Lake Michigan shoreline, connecting a chain of beaches, parks, and open lakefront spaces from the Chicago border north to the lighthouse. Flat, paved, and always active with cyclists, runners, and dog walkers. One of the better urban lakefront paths in the region.
North Shore Channel Trail
A paved multi-use path running along the North Shore Channel from the Chicago border northward through residential Evanston, with a landscaped corridor and regular access to cross streets. Less dramatic than the lakefront trail but useful for longer rides and quieter morning walks. Connects to the Chicago lakefront path system.

Evanston SPACE
A nationally recognized intimate concert hall on Chicago Avenue that has hosted significant performers across folk, jazz, indie, and classical genres in a room designed for listening. The sight lines are excellent and the sound system is exceptional for a venue its size. One of the Chicago area's best small venues.
Double Clutch Brewing Company
A Evanston brewery and event space with craft beers on tap, a rotating food menu, vintage car displays throughout the taproom, and a live music and trivia calendar that keeps the space active most nights. The car-culture theme is executed genuinely rather than as kitsch. Good for groups with varying interests.
Landmarks & sights
Grosse Point Lighthouse
A Second Order Fresnel lens lighthouse built in 1873 on the Lake Michigan shoreline, still actively operated and open for tours in summer. Climbing the tower's 113-foot height rewards visitors with panoramic lake views and a close look at the original lens mechanism. The adjacent nature center and beach add context to any visit.
Block Museum of Art at Northwestern
A public art museum on Northwestern University's lakefront campus with a permanent collection strong in prints and photographs, plus rotating exhibitions that regularly draw national attention. Admission is always free and the museum building itself is architecturally notable. An excellent rainy-day destination that most visitors bypass.
