Eagle Trail

Short enough to do in an hour but satisfying enough to rank as a full experience.
Sentinel Trail Loop
A 2-mile easy loop through old-growth boreal forest inside Peninsula State Park with educational interpretive plaques along the way and a bay overlook that earns the loop its reputation. Wide, well-maintained, and flat enough for all abilities, this is the right trail for families with young kids or anyone who wants a forest walk without the Eagle Trail's rugged descent. The overlook payoff is underrated.

Peninsula Players Theatre
America's oldest professional resident summer theater has been staging productions in an intimate outdoor pavilion on the bay between Fish Creek and Egg Harbor since 1935. The covered outdoor stage with the bay woods behind it creates a setting that no indoor theater can replicate, and the company brings professional Equity actors for a season running mid-June through mid-October. This is the cultural event that Door County is proudest of.
Northern Sky Theater
An outdoor amphitheater inside Peninsula State Park presenting original Wisconsin-themed musicals with a comedic and folk-music sensibility that has developed a devoted regional following. The shows are written and performed by a rotating company that knows the Door County character well, and seeing a production under the park's tree canopy with fireflies punctuating the second act is an experience specific to this place. The indoor Gould Theater runs a complementary winter and shoulder season.

Peninsula State Park
Three thousand seven hundred acres of forest, bluff, and eight miles of Green Bay shoreline make this the anchor of the peninsula. Eagle Bluff Lighthouse
A trim 1868 lighthouse perched at the edge of a limestone bluff inside Peninsula State Park, with the keeper's dwelling attached and the bay glittering below. Costumed interpreters run tours through the restored quarters, telling the lighthouse keepers' stories with period detail that grounds the history. The bluff approach on foot is as good as the building itself.
