The Secret Stash
A gourmet pizza restaurant in a Victorian building on Elk Ave that has been the most-reviewed spot in town for two decades. The upstairs loft with low ceilings and exposed wood beams is the better seating area when it's cold.

Snodgrass Trail
A 6.6-mile loop above the town of Crested Butte that winds through open meadows and dense aspen groves, gaining around 1,000 feet to a ridgeline with views of Mount Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley. It's the closest dedicated wildflower hike to the historic downtown — mid-July is when the meadows peak — and the northern aspen section turns gold in late September. Start from the trailhead off Whiterock Ave.
Crested Butte Upper and Lower Loop
A 4.5-mile easy-to-moderate trail system that circles the base of Mount Crested Butte, staying below treeline and passing through meadows and open pine forest. The Lower Loop portion is nearly flat and accessible from town; the Upper Loop adds modest elevation and better views. With 2,800+ AllTrails reviews it's the most-used trail corridor in the area, functioning as the town's informal morning run and dog-walk route.

Crested Butte Mountain Resort
The ski resort that defines Mt. Crested Butte in winter — 1,547 skiable acres, 561 acres of double-black-diamond terrain, and a reputation as the birthplace of extreme inbounds skiing in North America. The Rambo trail at 55 degrees is the steepest cut run on the continent, but the resort also has wide intermediate cruisers and a serious terrain park. In summer the same mountain runs the Evolution Bike Park.
Crested Butte Nordic Center
A dedicated Nordic skiing operation that grooms 55 kilometers of trails for both classic and skate skiing in the Gunnison Valley, widely regarded as the best cross-country ski facility in Colorado. The network starts near CB town and extends south toward Crested Butte Mountain Resort, with loops for every ability level. Rentals and lessons are available at the Nordic Center base.

Crested Butte National Historic District
A 32-block grid of Victorian-era wooden storefronts, miners' cottages, and painted false-front buildings that earned federal historic district designation in 1974. Elk Avenue is the spine — every block has a different color palette, and the buildings date from the coal-mining boom of the 1880s and 1890s. Worth a slow walk just to read the interpretive markers on each property.
Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum
A compact local history museum inside the town's first gas station (1883 former blacksmith shop) at 331 Elk Ave. The permanent collection covers coal mining, early skiing, ranching, and Ute history, with a working model railroad, a miniature 1920s townscape with moving parts, and a rotating schedule of local-history exhibits.
