Rex Restaurant
A Corfu Town institution since 1932 on Kapodistriou Street, where the local clientele has barely changed across generations. The menu is a reliable roll call of Corfiot cooking — sofrito, bourdeto, pastitsada — executed without shortcuts. The interior is classic Hellenic restaurant: white tablecloths, dark wood, framed photographs of regulars from decades past.
The Venetian Well
A fine-dining room built around an actual 16th-century Venetian well in Kremasti Square, the most atmospheric courtyard in the old town. The cooking is creative Mediterranean with Corfiot ingredients — barley with cuttlefish ink, pastitsada ravioli, local cheeses from the island interior. Darker and more intimate than anything on the main promenade.

Afionas – Porto Timoni Twin Beaches Loop
A 3.2 km loop from the hilltop village of Afionas descending to the peninsula between two back-to-back coves (Porto Timoni), with a steep finish to the clifftop chapel of Agios Stylianos above both beaches. The twin-beach viewpoint from the ridge is the most photographed landscape on the island and is earned rather than driven to. The path is rocky and requires footwear with grip.
Mount Pantokrator Loop (from Strinilas)
A 12 km circular trail from the mountain village of Strinilas to the 906-metre summit of Pantokrator — the highest point on Corfu — where a Byzantine monastery and telecommunications tower share the ridge, with views extending to the Albanian coast, Paxos, and Epirus. The loop drops back through olive groves and abandoned stone terraces that show the island's pre-tourism agricultural skeleton.

Liston Volta and Cricket on the Spianada
Corfu's evening ritual — the volta, or evening promenade — takes place daily at sunset along the Liston arcade and across the Spianada, Greece's largest square. Locals dress and walk circuits of the square in the specific unhurried way that has not changed in generations. Cricket, a legacy of British occupation, is still genuinely played on the northern grass section of the Spianada on summer weekends by the island's active cricket clubs.
Café Bristol
A bar and all-day café established in 1910 on the corner of the Town Hall square in Corfu Town, with floor-to-ceiling bottle shelves, a jazz and soul soundtrack, and one of the most functional terraces in the old town. Open from morning coffee to late-night cocktails, it functions as a genuine meeting point rather than just a tourist bar, and the kumquat Negroni is the local cocktail to try.

Corfu Old Town (UNESCO)
A walled medieval city layered with Venetian, French, and British architecture, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. The Campiello quarter — the oldest neighborhood — is a maze of narrow cantounia, carved stone wells, and tall Venetian houses with wrought-iron balconies. Three distinct occupying powers left their palaces, fortresses, and colonnades stacked on top of one another within walking distance.
Old Fortress (Palaio Frourio)
A Byzantine-era fortress on a rocky twin-peaked promontory, expanded by the Venetians across three centuries of occupation, protecting the town from its eastern tip. The site includes a Byzantine museum, a lighthouse perch with a panoramic view across the channel to Albania, and a small church repurposed from a Venetian cathedral. Less crowded than the town itself and rarely feels overwhelmed.
