Jamsen's Fish Market & Bakery
A family operation since 1954, selling fresh and smoked Lake Superior trout and whitefish along with scratch-baked goods right at the waterfront. The smoked whitefish is the thing — vacuum-sealed to travel, sold by the piece, and worth buying more of than you think you need. The baked goods lean toward pasties and pastries; the coffee is straightforward and not trying to be anything else.

Copper Harbor Bike Trail System
Nearly 50 miles of singletrack that put Copper Harbor on the international mountain biking map — the system runs from the top of Brockway Mountain down to cliff-edge trails above Lake Superior, covering everything from beginner flow tracks to serious technical descents. The trail-building standard is exceptional: wooden bridges, bermed corners, and sight lines that let you move fast through the forest. Roughly two-thirds of trails are intermediate, making this unusually accessible for a destination-caliber system.
The Flow Trail
The signature descent of the Copper Harbor system, dropping 668 feet over roughly 2.5 miles through forest before the trees open up to views toward Lake Superior and a series of tight berms and rocky cliff-edge sections. It finishes on a cantilevered wooden bridge above the rocks before rolling onto Lake Shore Drive. The climb back up takes about 40 minutes; most riders earn it on a full-suspension bike.

Keweenaw Adventure Company
The essential outfitter for Copper Harbor — they rent well-maintained mountain bikes, run guided singletrack tours, lead multi-day Lake Superior sea kayak trips, and offer guided kayak excursions into the harbor and along the cliffs. They've been operating here since 1994 and their staff know the trail system and local conditions as well as anyone. The bike shuttle service makes The Flow trail genuinely accessible without a grueling climb.
Isle Royale Queen IV Ferry
The ferry connecting Copper Harbor to Isle Royale National Park — 3.5 hours each way on an 81-foot steel passenger vessel, with the crossing itself offering some of the best open-water Lake Superior scenery accessible without a private boat. Isle Royale is one of the least-visited national parks in the country precisely because getting there is a commitment; a day trip is possible but staying overnight is a qualitatively different experience.

Fort Wilkins Historic State Park
A remarkably intact 1844 Army outpost preserved at the far tip of the Keweenaw, flanked by Lake Fanny Hooe on one side and Lake Superior on the other. The 19 original buildings are fully restored and staffed by living historians in period dress during summer months — it's the kind of place where you actually learn something rather than just walking past plaques. The surrounding trails link directly into the Copper Harbor mountain bike network.
Brockway Mountain Drive
The highest paved road between the Rockies and the Alleghenies at 735 feet, with a summit that looks out over Lake Superior, the harbor, and on a clear day, Isle Royale 50 miles out. The drive itself is only 9 miles but takes longer than you'd expect because the pullouts are genuinely worth stopping for. It's also one of the best hawk-migration watch sites in the Great Lakes during late April and May.
