Pawnee Park Trail
A winding paved path through Pawnee Park along the Loup River, flat and easy at roughly three miles out and back. It threads past the gardens, ballfields, and the Higgins memorial, so there is something to look at the whole way. The everyday walk-jog-bike loop for the south side of town.
Two Lakes Trail
A paved path running the north side of Lake North and Lake Babcock through tree-lined parks and a wildlife refuge. At about two and a half miles it is the area's prettiest flat walk, with water on one side most of the way. The pick for birdwatching or a quiet lakeside ride north of town.

Columbus Area Children's Museum
A hands-on museum built around local touches, with a Loup River water table, a model powerhouse, a farm with a vet's office, and a pretend Columbus 'Kidstown' of real area businesses. Aimed at kids from infancy to about ten. The reliable indoor option when younger travelers need to move.
Quail Run Golf Course
A public eighteen carved through cottonwoods along the Loup River and the old Mormon Trail, ranked among Nebraska's better municipal courses since it opened in 1991. The river setting makes it feel more secluded than a city course should. Worth a round for golfers passing through.

Glur's Tavern
A National Register tavern that has poured continuously since the 1870s, billed as the oldest bar west of the Missouri. The pressed-tin ceiling and back bar are original, and the burgers are the order locals actually come for. A working neighborhood bar that happens to be a piece of frontier history, best for an afternoon pint and a look around.
Andrew Jackson Higgins National Memorial
A memorial in West Pawnee Park to Columbus native Andrew Jackson Higgins, whose landing craft carried troops ashore on D-Day. The centerpiece is a full-size steel LCVP with life-size bronze soldiers emerging from it, framed by walls of WWII history. A genuinely moving stop that started as a high-school service project.
