Bidwell Park Lower Trail
The most accessible trail in Bidwell Park: a 5-mile paved-and-dirt corridor through the lower park corridor alongside Big Chico Creek, with mature sycamores overhead and frequent benches. Families, cyclists, and dog walkers use this constantly — it's the neighborhood trail that makes Chico residents love where they live.
Big Chico Creek Loop
A 9-mile moderate loop through Upper Bidwell Park that gains 770 feet and is the trail locals point to when someone asks for a real workout with a payoff. The wildflower displays along the creek-side sections are genuinely spectacular in late March and early April. Plan for 3–4 hours.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Tours & Tastings
The original Chico brewery that launched the American craft beer movement offers proper guided tours of the full production facility — copper kettles, hop cooler, the works — followed by pours in the Brewhouse Bar. The Beer Geek tour lets you taste straight from a fermenter, which is genuinely unusual access. Skip the self-guided option; the guided tour is the point.
Lost on Main
Chico's most serious live music venue: a 300-capacity room on Main Street with two stages — the main floor for touring and national acts, and the downstairs DownLo for local and up-and-coming bills. The sound system is the best in town and the booking is genuinely eclectic. The only real concert-going option in Chico short of driving to Sacramento.

Bidwell Park One Mile Recreation Area
The lower end of Chico's 3,600-acre municipal park, where Big Chico Creek widens into a beloved swimming hole ringed by sycamores. Locals bring inner tubes in summer and run the wide paved trail year-round — it's the park's most accessible stretch and genuinely beautiful.
Museum of Northern California Art
MONCA occupies the 1927 Veterans Memorial Hall on the Esplanade and focuses exclusively on Northern California artists — a tighter, more coherent lens than most regional museums. The rotating exhibitions tend toward painters and printmakers who have deep roots in the Central Valley and Sierra foothills.
