Hunt & Gather Restaurant
The closest thing Torrey has to a destination dinner, doing slow-cooked plates from wild game, trout, and stone fruit with house-cured meats and cheese boards. It's a surprise to find cooking this careful in a town this small, so it draws park visitors and locals alike.
The Wild Rabbit Cafe
A family-run breakfast-and-lunch spot at the east end of Main Street built for fueling up before the park, with house-baked biscuits, scrambles, and breakfast burritos. Good organic coffee and a calm patio make it an easy first stop of the day.
Trails & outdoors
Hickman Bridge Trail
A roughly 1.8-mile round-trip that climbs from the Fremont River up to a huge natural arch tucked at the back of a canyon. It's the park's signature short hike, with stone steps and big-dome views along the way.
Cohab Canyon Trail
Steep switchbacks out of Fruita give way to a hidden canyon full of honeycombed pockets and small slot side-trips, with overlooks back down on the orchards. It starts right across the road from the campground.
Things to do
Etta Place Cidery & Taproom
Utah's first orchard-based cidery, pressing heirloom apples grown on site into dry ciders served in a relaxed taproom with bar snacks. It's effectively Torrey's only local bar and an easy place to wind down after a day on the trails.
Sleeping Rainbow Adventures
A small guide outfit running Jeep tours, guided hikes, photography outings, and stargazing trips around Capitol Reef. It's the way to reach backcountry corners like Cathedral Valley and the Temples of the Sun and Moon without your own high-clearance rig.
Landmarks & sights
Fruita Orchards
Pioneer-planted orchards in the green river valley at the park's heart, with roughly 1,900 trees of cherry, apricot, peach, pear, and apple. During harvest you can pick fruit and pay at a self-serve scale; the rest of the year it's a shady walk among deer and old farm fences.
Gifford Homestead
A restored 1908 Mormon farmhouse run as a small shop selling mini fruit pies, ice cream, and local jams. It's the closest thing the park has to a snack bar, set among the orchards a mile down the Scenic Drive.
