Hill Country State Natural Area
Over forty miles of rugged trails across five thousand acres of limestone hills, oak groves, and creek bottoms, with no developed campsites or hookups by design. The Wilderness Trail to Twin Peaks loop (about 3.8 miles) climbs to a hilltop overlook of the whole park. The flagship outdoor day-trip from town.
Bandera City Park
A 77-acre day-use park on the Medina River a short walk from Main Street, with shaded picnic grounds, swimming holes, and easy riverside strolling. The slow current makes it a mellow spot for tubing and wading. The accessible, in-town green space when you do not want to drive out.

11th Street Cowboy Bar
A sprawling open-air honky-tonk built around a sawdust dance floor, with live bands most nights and a famous bring-your-own-steak grill night midweek. It is bigger inside than it looks and draws as many locals as visitors. The default night out in the Cowboy Capital.
Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon
A basement honky-tonk down a red door and a flight of stairs, with sawdust on the floor and traditional country on the bandstand. Texas Highways has named it among the state's top honky-tonks, and it has hosted the likes of Willie Nelson. The real-deal dance hall, not a themed bar.

Frontier Times Museum
A gloriously cluttered single-room museum packed with tens of thousands of frontier-era oddments, from branding irons and barbed-wire samples to a shrunken head and bells from around the world. It is the kind of small-town collection assembled from neighbors' attics, and the more you slow down the more you find. Good for a rainy hour or curious kids.
Bandera Natural History & Art Museum
An eight-acre indoor-outdoor museum with life-size dinosaur replicas, more than a hundred mounted animals in habitat dioramas, and a surprising hall of art from New Spain. It punches well above what you expect from a town this size. Kids gravitate to the dinosaurs and the dioramas.
