Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei)
The most celebrated hike on the Amalfi Coast traverses a clifftop ridge between Bomerano and Nocelle with the sea suspended 400 metres below and Capri visible on the horizon when conditions are clear. Ancient stone stairways, terraced vineyards, and abandoned hamlets line the route, which was supposedly walked by Greek gods rescuing Ulysses from the sirens below. Eight kilometres, three to four hours.
Sentiero dei Limoni — Ravello to Minori
An old mule path connecting Ravello to the sea at Minori through a continuous canopy of trained sfusato amalfitano lemon groves, with farm dogs, trellised vines, and stone walls enclosing the most agricultural landscape on the whole peninsula. The scent in blossom season is almost overwhelming. A three-hour descent through working land rather than a spectacular viewpoint hike.

Ravello Festival
The principal cultural event on the Amalfi Coast runs from July to early September in the gardens of Villa Rufolo, where an open-air stage positioned over the cliff gives performers the sea as a permanent backdrop. Classical concerts, opera, and dance fill the programme, which has featured major international orchestras and soloists. The evening timing means the coast light is at its most dramatic during performances.
Boat Tour — Positano to Amalfi
The most rewarding way to understand the Amalfi Coast is from the water, where the cliff towns cling to near-vertical walls of rock in a way that becomes evident only from a boat. Private or small-group gozzo (wooden fishing boat) tours from Positano pass sea caves, waterfalls descending directly to the sea, and the abandoned Saracen towers that punctuate the cliff line.

Villa Cimbrone Gardens, Ravello
A clifftop garden at 360 metres above the Mediterranean, reached through the medieval lanes of Ravello on foot, with a famous belvedere — the Terrace of Infinity — where a row of classical busts frames a view across the sea that Gore Vidal called the most beautiful on earth. The garden was laid out in the early 20th century by a British nobleman in a mixture of English landscape and classical Italian styles.
Villa Rufolo, Ravello
A 13th-century Sicilian-Norman villa complex whose tower and colonnaded courtyard overlook terraced gardens dropping directly to the sea, with Ravello's belltower in the background. Wagner stayed here and supposedly found the setting for Klingsor's magical garden in Parsifal — the annual Ravello Festival now uses the garden stage as its principal venue. Less crowded than Villa Cimbrone but the architecture is stronger.
